Atmosphere creators Humble now also at the Vegt.

Driven by a desire to move away from candles, Buitenplaats Slangevegt began looking for a practical, contemporary lighting solution for their tables. “We were looking for a user-friendly alternative that would enhance the ambiance in our restaurant and outside,” says manager Robert Beumer. In addition to receiving the Humble Two in July 2024, they decided to expand the collection further with the Bug, which was delivered in September.

Buitenplaats Slangevegt is a unique destination on the banks of the River Vecht, where style and culinary indulgence come together. This historic monument, dating back to 1700, takes its name from the winding river that flows through the landscape like a snake (‘slang’ in Slangevegt is snake in Dutch). Every day, the restaurant welcomes guests for lunch, drinks, dinner, or business meetings. Beumer explains, “To optimise the guests’ experience of taste and atmosphere, we put careful thought into selecting lighting that prioritises functionality, aesthetics, and hospitality. The right restaurant lighting can greatly enhance a memorable dining experience. The challenge was to find a blend of modern and classic. Humble’s lights perfectly capture this blend, complementing our style beautifully and adding something special to our guests’ experience.”

The decision to invest in Humble’s wireless designer lights stems from the desire to move away from traditional candles and opt for a modern light source that’s easier to maintain. Beumer adds, “Their lights are a more hygienic and user-friendly alternative, which we’re very pleased with. We no longer have issues with candle wax and don’t need to constantly replace candles. Thanks to the variety of collections and designs, we were able to select pieces that perfectly enhance our style.”

Design meets easy to use
In the end, a combination of the Bug Black and Two Gold Smoked lights was chosen, in a deliberate step to create a contemporary and inviting ambiance at Buitenplaats Slangevegt. The Bug Black, with its sleek and minimalist design, adds an elegant touch to the tables, while the Two Gold Smoked, with its warm, smoky glass, provides a soft, welcoming glow that suits the restaurant’s refined atmosphere. Both lights are wireless, dimmable in three settings, and equipped with rechargeable batteries that last up to 140 hours. Additionally, Humble’s designer lights come with silicone seals and are IP65 certified, making them suitable for outdoor use. To test their ambiance and ease of use, Buitenplaats Slangevegt initially placed the lights outside. In the second phase, table lighting was also added indoors for an extra warm touch.
